Art of Motion

Yesterday I posted childish posts (I'm evil! xD), so now I will post a serious one =) well, an hard one xD a critical appraisal text about an album xP "what? a critical appraisal text isn't difficult!"... it is easy... but for you xD And what album would I chose to post on my blog? "Art of Motion" of Andy Mckee! =D An amazing album... forget the voice and lyrics: just guitar and tabs. First of all, I ought to thank my guitar teacher for giving me this album =D and autographed by the own Andy Mckee! *.* thank you thank you thank you! =P
This album has 12 tracks and it was recorded and released in 2005 by the label Candyrat Records (that label records also Antoine Dufour albums and other excellent musicians).
Before start 'talking' about the album, I must say a few words before. Andy is thirty years old, he started playing the guitar when he was 13 (wow! O.O) and he only had one year and half of electric guitar lessons. My God, he is an animal... no, a monster... wait, what describe is development better is... beast! *.*
In this simple album we can hear guitar songs, all made by Andy, with fingerstyle technique.
The image of the album is all relative with painting. In fact, it fits with the name of te album "Art of Motion", because in the back of the album there is a painting of Andy playing his harpguitar, which makes us think about movement, in other words motion, when we imagine he is playing.
Another great idea to make this album even better was, in the liner notes, write all the story behind each piece. Thus, instead of listening and memorize the songs, we listen and then we try to understand the feelings of Andy when he wrote each song. Believe me, is an incredible experience. Hapiness and sadness... Movement and experience... we almost can feel it and understand what he got through in a little piece of his life. After all, that's the point of this album.

What gave more success to Andy an be famous on youtube were the videos which he was playing "Drifting", "Rylynn" and "Into The Ocean". His songs are extremely hard to play, but I can play the beggining of "Drifting" and the first 2:13 time of "Rylynn" ^.^ but soon I will learn "Practice is Perfect", because is my favourite song of this album.
In my opinion, this is an excellent album to all who want to improve guitar skills or that love this type of music: fingerstyle.
Here I let a very simple movie I made with the song "Practice is Perfect". I searched on youtube, but the only film with this song was about a crochet project... So I decided to do one on movie maker with Andy pics xP pics placed randomly xD Enjoy!

You can also visit his official website on www.andymckee.com, which as his forum and upcoming shows.

When I saw Andy Mckee for the first time on youtube, he automatically became an idol to me. Today, he isn't an idol anymore... he is an hero! Thanks Andy for all your love and music! Keep playing buddy! One entire generation is applauding you and blessing your work! =P
